The Power of Art Conference - April 27-29, 2017 | Washington, DC
Hosted by The Lab School of Washington
November 14, 2016
The Power of Art conference, now in its 24th year, has two objectives: to share a highly successful approach to teaching students with learning differences through an arts-based curriculum that is transferable to all classrooms of diverse learners; and to empower arts educators and school leaders to be persuasive voices in the national conversation about the critical relevance of the arts in the education for all children in all subjects.
Forty art educators and their partner administrators will be chosen from applications submitted. They will join Lab artists and other faculty and staff for an immersion into making, thinking about, and reimagining art and its importance in education — in and beyond the classroom. The arts have the capacity to play a greater role in innovative solutions for the future, the social fabric, the therapeutic safety net, and the source of lifelong education and stimulation. That is why it is crucial that educators, teachers, and artists participate in the Power of Art conference each year so that they can take what they have learned and bring it back to their schools and organizations.
From the beginning, The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation has provided the annual financial support for hosting art educators from around the country to attend The Power of Art conference in Washington DC. Hotel. All meals and materials are included. Assistance with travel is also available.
