Presentation Topic Descriptions

Choose one of the topics below for your presentation:

Community Vibrancy
Community Vibrancy is key to ensuring the needs and inclusion of all art educators. Opportunities for community vibrancy are realized through a lens that sees strengthening the field of visual arts, design, and media arts education as an asset to our members. Share current opportunities to maximize member benefits and support to enhance and grow the Preservice Division, National Art Honor Society (NAHS), and National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS), as well as potential areas to deepen and expand such as media arts.

Mentoring/Leadership Development/Sustainability
As instructional leaders in the arts, we also recognize and celebrate the leadership skills we bring to our roles to foster robust visual arts, design, and media arts education programs, such as advocacy, collaboration, and establishing brave spaces for expression. Share how mentoring, leadership development, and professional sustainability are anchored in the super pillar of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and work to grow diversity in the field, as well as to open the possibilities for equipping educators with the necessary tools and strategies to successfully navigate school and community dynamics, systems, and bureaucracies.

Leveraging Tech to Enhance Organizations
Technology is rapidly advancing and evolving; as we have seen in the last year Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic of conversation. However, AI is just one component of technology; visual arts, media arts, and design educators utilize a wide variety of instructional software and hardware. Share how your organization leverages technology to enhance your organization and membership development.

Professional Joy
The unique nature of being an art educator offers abundant joy; such as greater flexibility in designing curriculum and crafting engaging activities that teach skills that can extend beyond the art classroom; engaging in a career that enables artists to continue to grow creatively and inspire future generations of artists, and providing inclusive safe spaces for all students to express themselves are some of the rewards. Finding joy in the profession is key to the sustainability of art educators. Share how your organization and members uplift professional joy through programming, professional learning, or other opportunities that can contribute to art teacher recruitment and retention efforts.
