Laura H. (Hill) Chapman

Cincinnati - Born April 24, 1935 in Miami, Florida, a resident of Cincinnati since 1970, passed away at her residence on August 17, 2021.

Laura H. (Hill) Chapman, art educator, Ph.D. in educational research, taught art in Florida Public Schools and held faculty posts at Indiana University, University of Illinois, Ohio State University and University of Cincinnati. She wrote more than three-dozen award-winning books and numerous articles on art education. Selections were translated into seven languages. She served as a consultant to the National Endowment for the Arts, J. Paul Getty Trust, U.S. Department of Education, College Board, and Department of Defense schools. She lectured in over 40 states, Canada, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand. She was honored as a Distinguished Fellow of the National Art Education Association. She received the 1994 Ohio Governor’s Award in Art Education and Cincinnati’s Corbett award as co-planner of 1987 National Sculpture Conference: Works by Women.
