Technical Details

The main platform for the conference will be Zoom. To enhance your ability to exchange ideas and communicate, we will use Padlet. To transform your ideas, we will use Adobe Spark. Zoom, Padlet, and Adobe Spark function with Windows and Mac computers and with smart devices using iOS and Android mobile apps.

Please note: We will be using breakout rooms in Zoom. Breakout rooms do not function with Chromebooks/Chrome OS. Zoom breakout rooms do work with the Zoom Mobile App or H.323/SIP devices.

To strengthen your ability for engagement, please take time to familiarize yourself with Zoom, Padlet, and Adobe Spark before the conference.

Signing On for the Conference

A few days before the event, you will be emailed a unique Zoom link to access the live conference. Please do not share the link. On the day of the event, you can log in up to 30 minutes early to ensure your technology is working correctly.

Tips

It will be helpful to use more than one device or multiple browser tabs during the conference.

  • Using your computer for the conference: Reduce the screen size of your Zoom window to easily open and navigate between browser tabs for Padlet and Adobe Spark.
  • Using your computer for the conference and a smartphone or tablet for Padlet and Spark (preferred method): will allow you to instantly share your work as you progress via the camera on your secondary device.

A Leadership Challenge
How can we use a familiar learning environment for a national leadership conference?

Zoom is a collaborative audio and video communication platform. If you don’t already have one, we suggest creating a free account before the conference to simplify your log-on process. Become familiar with the tools; the mute button will be on during many sessions and the chat feature will be used for participant communication during meetings. We suggest that you leave your video off to expand bandwidth.

Padlet is a web-based software platform used to make and share content. During the conference you will be able to connect with fellow participants by posting text, videos, images, links, and much more. Prior to the conference, you will receive an email invitation for the Padlet boards we’ll be using. A Padlet account is not needed to post on these boards, but creating an account is strongly recommended.
