Standards

We work to activate successful alignment to state and national visual arts standards through resources and professional learning, as well as establish program and educator standards within the field. As a member of the National Coalition for Arts Standards, NAEA is dedicated to supporting and promoting sequential, standards-based arts education as part of a well-rounded curriculum that ensures artistic literacy for all students.

National Visual Arts Standards

There are voluntary national standards for visual arts, dance, music, theater and media arts. First developed in 1994, a new generation of standards was released in 2014. NAEA believes that all students deserve access to art education taught by art educators who are accountable to students, families and stakeholders in their community.
