Governance Structure

Board of Directors

The NAEA Board is the executive authority of the Association. The Board is responsible for overseeing the mission and purpose of the organization. Duties include developing organizational policy and planning. All positions are elected by members with the exception of the Executive Director, who is appointed by the Board and serves as an ex-officio nonvoting member.

Delegates Assembly

The NAEA Delegates Assembly is a recommending body for legislative and policy matters for the Association. The Assembly, comprising representatives from each state/province and Interest Group, makes recommendations to the NAEA Board of Directors.

State/Province/Local Associations

These associations serve members in their respective states, provinces, or overseas/APO. Leaders from these groups also represent their association’s members.

Interest Groups

There are more than 20 NAEA Interest Groups that collaborate, bring areas of concern to NAEA’s attention, and hold events at the NAEA National Convention and beyond. Membership to these groups is open to all members.

Commissions

The NAEA Board may take action to establish a Commission. A task force shall first be appointed to create a plan for the establishment and structure of a Commission.

Standing Committees

The selection of membership to these committees is prescribed in the Bylaws and the Policy Manual.

Appointed Committees

Special committees (e.g., ad hoc committees, working groups, task forces) shall be appointed as needed and can evolve from the work of another special committee.
