NAEA’s new Equity Diversity, & Inclusion Commission will hold its inaugural meeting Dec. 6-8 at the NAEA Studio & Gallery with a mandate to ensure that NAEA continues its work toward creating an inclusive art education professional community open to all.
The establishment of the Commission comes after the National Task Force on Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion presented its recommendations to the NAEA Board of Directors in March 2019. In addition to establishing the ED&I Commission, NAEA has begun addressing other recommendations; the National Endowment for the Arts recently awarded a grant to NAEA to explore diversity and inclusion within the profession and implications for culturally competent teaching and professional leadership in art education.
