Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Commission
The NAEA Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Commission is working to ensure an inclusive art education professional community open to all.
The NAEA Board of Directors acted swiftly during its March 2019 meeting in response to the recommendations presented by its National Task Force on Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion. The Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (ED&I) Commission was officially launched in December 2019 and will work to ensure that our professional community is inclusive and open to all.
The ED&I initiative was developed in part to help the organization’s 17,500 members better serve their students and support their colleagues—including those who are often marginalized, due to their race, class, gender, and more.
Commissioners will work in concert with the NAEA Board of Directors, state association affiliates, and members to respond to previously unaddressed and newly emerging issues, to advance NAEA ED&I priorities, and sustain the work already begun by the Task Force.
