Art Education, the official journal of the National Art Education Association, is accepting nominations, including self-nominations, for additional Editorial Review Board (ERB) members willing to serve a 3-year term. Art Education is a peer-reviewed publication that maintains and supports the mission and strategic plan of NAEA covering a diverse range of topics of professional interest to art educators and those interested in quality visual arts education.
Nomination criteria for serving on the Art Education Editorial Review Board are listed below. Please ensure all nominees are available and willing to serve a 3-year term and able to review manuscripts within a 1-month timeline. Most ERB members receive six or more manuscripts per year for review. When nominating or self-nominating, please include an abbreviated CV, which should include publishing credits in Art Education.
The eligibility criteria and expectations of service on the Editorial Review Board of Art Education include the following:
- The Art Education ERB consists of up to 50 members who serve staggered, 3-year terms.
- The ERB is composed of representatives of each Division and Region reflecting the diversity of the interest groups and demographics of NAEA.
- The term of the newly elected ERB members begins as soon as possible after the NAEA National Convention of the year in which they are elected.
- All nominees must have published in the journal and must submit an abbreviated CV of their qualifications for service.
- An ERB member may publish in the journal, but they cannot be part of the review process leading to publication of their own manuscript.
- ERB members may edit other journals and serve on other editorial boards during their 3-year term.
Duties of Editorial Review Board members include:
- Reviewing masked manuscripts for possible publication in the journal.
- Returning reviews to the online manuscript submission and peer review system by the assigned deadline, advising the Senior Editor as requested.
- Recommending policy and procedural changes for Art Education to the Senior Editor.
- Participating in the election of new ERB members and an Associate Editor.
