2024 NAEA Delegates Assembly Ad Hoc Committee

Application deadline: Tuesday, July 30

NAEA invites members to apply and join the Delegates Assembly Ad Hoc Committee, who will be called upon for the revision of two publications: the Professional Codes for Art Educators and the Professional Code of Ethics for State and Province Associations.

The application for this opportunity closed on July 30.

The NAEA Ad Hoc Committee will support the mission and vision of NAEA by reviewing and revising the current NAEA Professional Code for Educators and the NAEA Professional Code of Ethics for State and Province Associations. Though last reviewed in 2019, no updates have been made to these codes since 1986, and the purpose of these codes are outlined below.

The Professional Code for Educators establishes standards of conduct for NAEA members and serves as a guide in working toward the goals of the Association. For full details on this item, click here.

The Professional Code of Ethics for State and Province Associations represents a formal endorsement and enhancement of the professional partnership existing among the national and the state/provincial art education associations. For full details on this item, click here.

The Ad Hoc Committee will include a diverse range of members from all Divisions and Regions who will bring forth different areas of experience, expertise, interest, and perspectives.

Committee Structure:

The Ad Hoc Committee will be supported by one NAEA Regional Vice President and an assigned NAEA Staff Liaison. This committee will have up to 12 members (including one Chair) representing each NAEA Division and Region. Each committee member will serve until the National Convention in March 2025. Committee members with experience serving at Delegates Assembly and within state association leadership are preferred.

Committee Responsibilities:

Members must commit to regularly attending meetings and completing any assigned work between meetings (meetings are expected to be held once a month, on a designated weeknight between 7 and 8:30pm ET).

This group serves in an advisory capacity to the NAEA Board and NAEA Delegates Assembly to provide recommendations on amendments and revisions to the current Professional Codes.

The Chair will submit full recommendations to the NAEA staff at least 45 days prior to the 2025 National Convention. The recommendations will be shared with Delegates for review and feedback 30 days prior to the Convention. A final vote will take place at the Delegates Assembly on March 19, 2025.
