Forum 1. arTED Micropresentations—Higher Education Research in Action
This forum invites art educators, researchers, and practitioners to present lightning 5-minute research micro-talks that reflect a wide range of approaches in art education inquiry. The session aims to expand the visibility of arts-based, practice-led, participatory, and interdisciplinary research that is often excluded from traditional publication venues.
Participants will illuminate emergent methodologies, critical perspectives, and experimental formats that push the boundaries of knowledge production in the field. Attendees will leave with exposure to diverse inquiry models and renewed inspiration to rethink their own research, teaching, and collaborative possibilities within and beyond higher education contexts.
Submission: Please submit a 300-word abstract for Forum 1 to Lynnette Gilbert at lgilbert3@atu.edu.
Forum 2. Higher Education Creates
This session seeks to redefine and celebrate the multifaceted responsibilities of art educators in higher education by highlighting the artists behind the educators. We invite Higher Education Division members who actively engage in painting, pottery, collage, sculpture, book arts, fiber art, printmaking, photography, digital media, and other creative practices to share how maintaining a studio practice enriches their teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and personal well-being. Together, we will celebrate creativity as a vital form of professional inquiry that strengthens our collective identity as artist–researcher–educators.
Submission: Please submit the following materials to Yichien Cooper at ycooper@wsu.edu:
- a 300-word artist statement and
- three pictures of your sample artworks
Forum 3. BOOKTALK: Higher Education Writes
For authors who have published or edited a book between 2025 and 2027.
Join higher education colleagues for roundtables featuring dynamic conversations and author book talks. Participate in meaningful dialogue, get to know new books, and exchange ideas that inform teaching, research, and practice. This welcoming session fosters collaboration, expands professional networks, and celebrates scholarly contributions. It provides space for collegial conversation, connection, and scholarly exchange.
Submission: Please submit the following materials to Yichien Cooper at ycooper@wsu.edu:
