Calls for Submissions

Studies is now accepting manuscripts for a special issue publishing May 2025, “exploring the discourse and actions of decolonizing research practices in art education.” Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts that pursue change and reflect upon transformations made possible by decolonizing discourse and actions in art education. Submissions are due April 1, 2024.

Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts as a means to pursue change and reflect upon transformations made possible by decolonizing discourse and actions in art education. This call requests that our field asks: How might we approach decolonizing the embedded coloniality of contemporary practices in artistry, pedagogy, research, forms of writing, the language we use, and in our ways of thinking, feeling, and knowing?

Studies welcomes commentaries that are concise, focused responses to issues addressed in published articles or in the field at large, as well as book reviews. Authors who wish to submit commentaries or book reviews should consult a current issue of Studies, or the Author Guidelines, for contact information for editors of these sections.

All manuscripts go through a blind review by selected members of the Studies Editorial Board. Most manuscripts go through at least one rewrite. The Senior Editor may further edit a manuscript prior to publication, but author permission is obtained for extensive changes.

Full details regarding the submissions process are available here.

A complete set of Author Guidelines is included in each issue of Studies and at this page on the Taylor & Francis website.
