DESCRIPTION:NAEA is now accepting applications from members who wish to serve on the 2026 Nominating Committee. Commissioners coordinate and communicate about research that relates to the needs of practitioners and stakeholders who are concerned with understanding critical questions of importance to the field to provide the highest quality visual arts education possible in our schools and educational institutions.   \nThe NAEA ED&I Commission works in concert with the NAEA Board of Directors\, state association affiliates\, and members to respond to previously unaddressed and newly emerging issues to advance NAEA’s ED&I recommendations (developed by the ED&I Task Force)\, as well as to fully realize this work.

DESCRIPTION:The 2027 NAEA National Convention is taking place March 4-6\, in New York City. NAEA invites YOU to share your expertise\, face-to-face\, with educators who are committed to NAEA’s mission to “Champion creative growth and innovation by equitably advancing the tools and resources for a high-quality visual arts\, design\, and media arts education throughout diverse populations and communities of practice.” \nFor this national professional learning experience\, we are seeking diverse and engaging proposals that do the following for the field of visual arts\, design\, and media arts education: \n\nCapture learner-centered pedagogy\, art project or challenge-based\, and are supported by research and practice-based evidence;\nProvide hands-on experiences with new techniques and skills;\nExplore the use of research strategies to inform teaching practice and/or advance the field;\nInspire leadership among educators and/or learners;\nEngage meaningful debate and dialogue about emerging issues and trends that define the field:\nShowcase strategies for designing curriculum and assessment that support art standards; and/or\nPresent diverse ideas in response to timely issues and trends.\n\nIndividual Presentation Limit \nMembers may submit multiple presentation proposals for review. DESCRIPTION:The NAEA Board of Directors guides the Association forward on behalf of NAEA’s members and their learners. The Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for the following NAEA Board of Directors positions: President-Elect and Division Directors-Elect. Please consider nominating NAEA members you know who have an interest in national leadership and service.   \nNominations for 2027 National Officer positions are due Monday\, August 3\, at 11:59pm in your designated time zone.  \nAbout the Positions \nThe President serves for a total of 6 years: 2 years each as President-Elect\, President\, and Past President. Candidates nominated for this primary leadership position must be members in good standing who have held active membership in the Association during the past 4 years.  \nThe term as Elect begins at the conclusion of the 2027 NAEA National Convention in New York City in March 2027 and ends at the conclusion of the 2029 NAEA National Convention. At that point\, the candidate selected as Elect would become President from March 2029 through March 2031.  \nDivision Directors serve 4 years: 2 years as Division Director-Elect and 2 years as Division Director. To be eligible for nomination for these leadership positions\, individuals must be active NAEA members and must be certified and/or licensed within the job‑alike division and employed within the job‑alike category. Individuals nominated for PreserviceDivision Director must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of study\, spending 51% of the time as a student.  \nThe term as Elect begins at the conclusion of the 2027 NAEA National Convention in New York City in March 2027 and ends at the conclusion of the 2029 NAEA National Convention. At that point\, the candidate selected as Elect would become the Director from March 2029 through March 2031.  \n General Responsibilities for President Include:  \nPresident-Elect  \n\n\n\nAssume the duties of the President in the event of absence or vacancy in that office\, Serve as an ex-officio member of the Delegates Assembly\, \nServe as lead reviewer for multiple award categories as part of the NAEA Awards Program\, \nChair the Professional Materials Committee\, and \nAssume the duties of Secretary and other duties as determined by the President\n\n\n\nPresident  \n\n\n\nPreside at all meetings of the NAEA Board\, \nServe as official spokesperson for the Association\, \nAppoint the chair and members of NAEA special committees with consultation and approval of the NAEA Board\, \nServe as ex-officio member of all committees\, \nEstablish the professional goals and programs for the Association in consultation with the Board\, \nInform the membership of the activities of the NAEA Board and the concerns of the Association\, and \nPerform such other duties as usually pertain to the office of the President. \n\n\n\nPast President  \n\n\n\nServe as Chair of the Executive Finance Committee\, \nOversee the performance evaluation of the Executive Director\, \nServe as lead reviewer for multiple award categories as part of the NAEA Awards Program\, \nAssume the duties of the President-Elect in the event of vacancy in that office\, and \nAssume other duties as determined by the President. \n\n\n\nGeneral Responsibilities for Division Director Include: \n\nCoordinate Division-specific nominations and submission review for the NAEA Awards Program; \nServe as lead reviewers to assist in the selection of National Convention proposals for their respective Division; \nCoordinate and present Division-specific sessions and events at the NAEA National Convention\, including the All-Division Award Ceremony; \nRecruit and appoint Regional Division Directors; \nServe on committees and working groups as needed (Middle Level and Secondary Division Directors will serve on the NAHS/NJAHS advisory committee). \n\nEligibility \n\nMust be a current member with a minimum of 3 cumulative (not necessarily consecutive) years of membership\, with the exception of Preservice nominees.  \nMust not be a staff member of NAEA.  \nAccepts the nomination by signing the consent-to-serve form.  \nDemonstrates leadership ability for the office through prior experiences that include a track record of leadership and service at local\, state/provincial\, regional\, and/or national levels.  \nNominees for Division Directors must be members in the Division for which they are nominated at the time of nomination. DESCRIPTION:NAHS and NJAHS student members are invited to apply for a volunteer leadership position as a student ambassador on the National Art Honor Societies Student Council.  \nThe National Art Education Association (NAEA) seeks applications from middle and high school students who are registered members of National Art Honor Societies (NAHS/NJAHS) chapters interested in serving as ambassadors on the National Art Honor Societies Student Council. The National Art Honor Societies Student Council will meet virtually\, cohost NAEA Open Studio Conversations\, lead a Saturday Student Studio workshop\, and provide feedback to NAEA regarding the National Art Honor Societies programs.  \nThis position is designed for passionate and dedicated students with a deep appreciation for visual arts\, design\, and/or media arts; strong leadership qualities; and a commitment to promoting the highest standards in art scholarship\, character\, and service. Please reference the National Art Honor Societies Student Council Ambassador Rubric for evaluation criteria.    \nAbout the National Art Honor Societies Student Council Ambassadors: \nMembers of the National Art Honor Societies Student Council will include at least eight National Art Honor Society Student Ambassadors—two from each NAEA region: Eastern Region\, Southeastern Region\, Western Region\, and Pacific Region.   \nQualifications: \nStudent ambassadors must be active members of a registered NAHS or NJAHS chapter for the 2026–2027 school year.  \nHigh School–Level Student Council Ambassadors must meet the following criteria:  \n\nBe a current high school student. \n\n\nBe a member of a registered NAHS chapter. \n\n\nHave been an active member of their school’s NAHS chapter (or NJAHS chapter in middle school) for at least 1 year. \n\n\nCommit to participating in four (4) quarterly virtual meetings\, one Open Studio Conversation webinar\, and the NAHS Saturday Student Studio Day.  \n\nMiddle-Level Student Council Ambassadors must meet the following criteria:  \n\nBe a current middle school student. \n\n\nAttend a school with a registered NJAHS chapter. \n\n\nHave been an active member of their school’s NJAHS chapter (or NEAHS chapter in elementary school) for at least 1 year. \n\n\nCommit to participating in four (4) quarterly virtual meetings and one Open Studio Conversation webinar\, and the NAHS Saturday Student Studio Day. \n\nTerms of Service and Appointment: Members serve a 1-year term. The term will begin on October 20\, 2026\, and conclude on June 30\, 2027. If a student ambassador meets the required service obligations\, they may serve a second consecutive term.  \nNational Art Honor Societies Student Council ambassadors are selected from applications submitted and appointed by the NAEA Youth and Preservice Program Manager and the National Art Honor Societies Council. Members will meet virtually and participate in four meetings annually and cohost one of two Open Studio Conversations\, and lead a workshop during the NAHS Saturday Student Studio Day. DESCRIPTION:The National Art Education Association (NAEA) invites state and provincial association leaders\, Interest Group leaders\, supervisors and administrators\, and School for Art Leaders participants and alumni to gather for the 2026 National Leadership Conference (NLC)\, held July 24-26 in Washington\, DC. This annual convening brings together art education leaders from across the country for collaborative learning\, connection\, and dialogue focused on strengthening effective\, responsive\, and innovative leadership in visual arts\, design\, and media arts education. \nAdditional details\, including the full agenda and session information\, will be available in Spring 2026. \n \nThe 2026 NLC will center learning across three interconnected focus areas designed to support leaders at every stage of their leadership journey:  \nLeading for Impact: Building Sustainable and Inclusive Art Education Programs\nSessions in this strand emphasize actionable practices that strengthen organizational systems and advance inclusive art education. Participants will explore approaches to courageous\, equity-centered leadership; inclusive strategic planning; equitable resource development; and curriculum leadership that reflects diverse voices and learner needs. This event will take place July 24–26\, 2026\, in Washington\, DC.    \nThe NAHS Student Leadership Conference offers a unique opportunity to inspire the next generation of creative leaders and arts advocates. This national gathering brings together high school art students from across the country to celebrate the power of creativity while building confidence\, leadership skills\, and a shared commitment to supporting the arts in schools and communities.   \nDuring the conference\, students will participate in interactive presentations and hands-on workshops led by artists\, educators\, and arts leaders who are shaping the future of visual art\, media\, and design. Participants will learn how artists lead\, collaborate\, and advocate\, discovering how their creative voices can influence classrooms\, communities\, and beyond.  \nSet in Washington\, DC\, the experience extends beyond the conference venue with guided visits to world-class museums and cultural institutions\, providing students with direct engagement with art in a national context. Students cannot register for the NAHS Conference directly. If you are a student interested in attending\, please talk to your school’s administration\, art educator\, or your parent/guardian.  \nThe registration fee is $175 per student and includes two meals.  \nStudents attending the NAHS Student Leadership Conference must be registered by an adult chaperone\, with one chaperone required for every 15 students under age 18. Chaperones are responsible for drop-off\, pick-up\, and supervision outside of conference program hours (July 24-25\, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; July 26\, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM)\, and may remain on-site during the program but are not required to do so. Local students may attend without a chaperone if they live within commuting distance and submit an advance parent/guardian permission form allowing independent travel; conference staff cannot provide pickup supervision.
