Give your students the opportunity to collaborate on a large scale public art project and be part of something bigger than themselves.
In the Studio: One Million Bones, SATURDAY, MARCH 9, 2:00 – 3:50 pm. One Million Bones is a social arts practice that uses education, hands on art making and large scale pubic art installations to raise awareness of mass atrocities and conflict related crises happening today in Congo, Sudan, Burma and Somalia. Working at the intersection of art and activism, it brings the power of the arts to the human rights movement by introducing youth and the general public to an overwhelming issue in a positive, action-oriented way, opening paths for new activists to a cause they are passionate about and helping to build a permanent constituency for peace. For over two years the One Million Bones Team has been working in person with youth in schools and adults in many different community settings, as well as providing curriculum, tools and best practices to facilitate others hosting workshops of their own. Watch our video
One Million Bones and Students Rebuild, an organization dedicated to mobilizing young people worldwide to connect, learn and take action on critical global issues, have joined forces in a global effort to cover the National Mall in Washington D.C. in 2013 with 1,000,000 handmade bones as a visible petition against current genocides and conflict related crises happening today.
