Deborah B. Reeve is executive director of the NAEA. Formerly the deputy executive director of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) in Alexandria, Virginia, Deborah brings to NAEA a proven record of association management and creative leadership in organizational development.
As NAEA executive director, she is overseeing strategic initiatives including the development of a comprehensive communications plan, an overhaul of NAEA's information technology infrastructure and the design and implementation of a virtual community of practice.
She is also working with NAEA's president and other leaders to review NAEA systems and structures including policy, governance and standards for the profession.
A former art educator, Deborah has taught at the pre-K–12 levels in both public and private schools and has held an adjunct faculty position in the graduate school at Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has extensive experience as a presenter and consultant to national and international education organizations and is a practicing visual artist who regularly creates and exhibits her mixed media works on canvas and paper. Deborah holds a doctorate in education with a focus on leadership and development. She earned a master of education degree in secondary education and holds an undergraduate degree in art education.
